Why a Spindle?

The iconic Berwyn Spindle which formerly stood tall in Cermak Plaza was designed & built by Dustin Shuler in 1989 & was removed in 2008. The Spindle's purpose was to take the car & position it in a place that makes us take a second look at it & its significance in our lives.

During the Spindle's short 19 year life, it became known for its cameo in the blockbuster film
Wayne's World & for being a source of controversy in its hometown. Not everyone enjoyed the 8 car kabob in the center of the plaza and throughout the years there were many unsuccessful protests to have the piece removed.

Even though
some Berwyn citizens loved the 50 foot tall car stack & others thought of it as a giant eye sore, no one can deny that is it a part of Berwyn's History and now it is apart of our iEngage History as well.
